Emergency Water EXTRACTION For Commercial Properties

If your business has standing water, proceed with caution! American Restoration Solutions provides virtual and on-site assessments 24/7. Water of unknown origin may contain harmful chemicals, sewage, bacteria & other harmful compounds, putting facilities staff and tenants at risk of exposure. If water comes in contact with electrical appliances, it could become electrified and highly dangerous. Even if the water appears to be receding on its own, it’s still imperative to call ARS to assess the situation. It’s very common for hidden moisture to build up in wall coverings, under flooring and in contents, leading to mold growth and structural rot. Our “One Call, Complete Recovery” promise offers a one-stop solution for emergency water extraction and property restoration.

Common Causes of Commercial Water Damage:

Leaking Roof: Responsible for about 15% of commercial water damage claims, it is very common for rainwater to seep through damaged areas in the roof, dripping or flowing into the building’s interior.

HVAC System Malfunctions: Leaky, frozen, clogged, or malfunctioning pipes can occur in HVAC systems that are not properly connected or regularly maintained.

Damaged Pipes: Pipe leaks and bursts can lead to excessive flooding and extensive water damage if not mitigated immediately.

Sprinkler System Malfunctions: Sprinkler systems can be accidentally triggered for a number of reasons including physical impacts, unintentional heat sources, or faulty sensors.

Plumbing Failures: Sewage backups, clogged drains, faulty fixtures, and burst pipes are just a few examples of plumbing failures that can be detrimental to your commercial property.

Boilers: Unmaintained boilers are prone to leaks, overflow, floods, or bursts.

Flooding: Severe weather conditions can lead to extreme flooding, significant damage, and disruption of business operations.

Water Extraction: The Three Categories of Water Damage

Category 1: This level of water damage involves water that is deemed “clean” by most standards. This category usually involves water from appliances, fixtures, and pipes if they have been consistently well maintained. The damaged areas can be restored to their original state when mitigated thoroughly by our expert team of technicians. While this category is not necessarily hazardous, ARS suggests mitigating immediately to avoid dangerous contamination and bacterial growth. The longer it’s left unmitigated, the more likely it is to turn into Category 1 or 2.

Category 2: The water in this category is also referred to as "grey water". Common sources of water damage that fall into this category include dishwashers, washing machines, and toilet overflow. This category involves water that has been in contact with biohazardous or chemical contaminants, promoting harmful microbial growth. If ingested, this water can pose a serious risk of illness. Due to this category’s potential health risks, proper remediation must follow certain standards and procedures. American Restoration Solutions implements expert techniques and meets specific requirements for all categories of water damage.

Category 3: This category is also referred to as “black water” and it’s just as serious as it sounds. Water in this category consists of sewage and other contaminates that cannot be left unmitigated under any circumstances. Common procedures require the removal of porous surfaces and rigorous cleaning of any non-porous surfaces with antimicrobials and biocide. This type of water remediation requires the assessment of a third party, to confirm proper protocol was followed.

If your commercial property has been affected by water damage of any category, ARS is your trusted partner for water extraction. As a full-service restoration company, we will take care of the entire mitigation process from start to finish. No water extraction project is too big for us.

How to Prevent Commercial Water Damage

Schedule regular inspections and maintenance — By regularly assessing the pipes, appliances, plumbing system, roof, and foundation, you can identify and address potential water damage before it escalates.

Install water detection systems – When moisture or a leak is detected, water detecting sensors can alert you of the loss immediately and water shut off valves can automatically shut off the main water supply to your home. The extent of water damage may be limited thanks to the water loss notification and quick automatic shut off response.

Seal cracks and gaps — Don’t let small cracks, crevices, and holes in your business’s foundation turn into bigger problems. Sealing and repairing these minor issues can help protect against water intrusion through these openings.

Shut off the main water supply — To minimize the risk of water damage while you’re away from your home or business, consider shutting off the main water supply. This can prevent severe water damage like pipe bursts or leaks, especially during extreme weather conditions.

  • When water damage occurs in your business, take action ASAP if safely able to do so. Actions include:

    • Shutting off the water source & prevent access to the area

    • Use towels or other materials to prevent water from spreading.

    • Elevate furniture & belongings to keep them dry.

    • DO NOT use electronics or attempt to clean up water that may be in contact with electricity. Consult with a commercial water extraction expert like ARS before proceeding.

  • Scale! Between American Restoration Solutions own locations and our affiliates, we have an unmatched commercial water damage response capability. We are able to quickly deploy the right people and assets to get the job done quickly and correctly, minimizing downtime and business disruption. Running crews 24/7 or working overnight is a regular occurrence for us. We know that budgets are always a concern, and we provide upfront time & materials pricing for commercial jobs.

  • Restoration, in the simplest terms, is catch-all phrase to describe all the processes & procedures for returning your property to a pre-loss condition. Professional restoration companies follow guidelines established by the IICRC, an independent association that publishes research and best practices to providers and adjusters alike. American Restoration Solutions employs IICRC-certified project managers & technicians to guarantee the quality of your restoration project. We provide all facets of restoration under one roof, from water extraction & dry cleaning to dry outs & rebuilds. One Call, Complete Recovery.

  • Every loss is different. Small spills of clean water that can easily be mopped up might not be a reason to call, but even a small sewage backup needs professional cleaning & disinfection. Some surfaces can be cleaned & disinfected, while others should be removed because they trap bacteria and can never be thoroughly sanitized. Our IICRC-certified PMs will advise what steps are needed to properly restore your property and keep tenants and employees safe & healthy.

  • You’ve probably heard the phrase “Water is life” and nothing could be more true. While it keeps us alive, water also fuels microbial growth (aka mold), mildew, bacteria, and other harmful contaminants. Water can also cause structural rot and pose electrocution hazards. Trust American Restoration Solutions to clean up your commercial space quickly, completely, and correctly.

  • No! Depending on the size of the loss, it may not make sense to file an insurance claim. Factors like claims history, deductible, coverage & your ability to pay all factor into whether it makes sense to file a claim. We provide competitive pricing and low or no-cost assessments for commercial losses without a claim or denied clams.

  • Regardless of insurance coverage, American Restoration Solutions is here to help. Not all instances of commercial water damage are covered but the damage still needs to be cleaned up. In order for insurance to cover the damage, the cause of loss usually needs to be considered “sudden & accidental”. Your insurance may or may not cover the repairs for the cause of loss, but they will cover the subsequent damage. Flood damage is typically covered by separate insurance or FEMA. If you have questions about your policy & coverage, we suggest speaking with us, your broker, or a pubic adjuster.

  • Typically drying begins as soon as any standing water has been extracted, contents have been moved to an unaffected area or into storage & all demolition debris has been removed. The industry standard drying time is 3-5 days. We monitor equipment & take moisture measurements throughout the process until the area is dry & ready for repairs. If hazardous materials such as mold or asbestos appear to be present or local jurisdictions require approvals first, it may add to the amount of time before work can start. Our goal is always to get your life back together as quickly as possible.
