Common Causes of Commercial Water Damage
Leaking Roof: Responsible for about 15% of commercial water damage claims, it is very common for rainwater to seep through damaged areas in the roof, dripping or flowing into the building’s interior.
HVAC System Malfunctions: Leaky, frozen, clogged, or malfunctioning pipes can occur in HVAC systems that are not properly connected or regularly maintained.
Sprinkler System Malfunctions: Sprinkler systems can be accidentally triggered for a number of reasons including physical impacts, unintentional heat sources, or faulty sensors.
Damaged Pipes: Pipe leaks and bursts can lead to excessive flooding and extensive water damage if not mitigated immediately.
Plumbing Failures: Sewage backups, clogged drains, faulty fixtures, and burst pipes are just a few examples of plumbing failures that can be detrimental to your property.
Boilers: Unmaintained boilers can lead to leaks, overflow, flooding, or burst pipes.
Flooding: Severe weather conditions can lead to extreme flooding, significant damage, and disruption of business operations.
Preventing Water Damage
Schedule regular inspections and maintenance: Regularly inspect pipes, appliances, plumbing, roofing, and foundation to proactively identify and address potential water damage before it worsens.
Install water detection systems: Water detection sensors and automatic shut-off valves provide early warning and quick response. These devices can notify you when water is detected and automatically shut off the main water supply, minimizing the extent of the damage.
Seal cracks and gaps: Prevent small cracks and holes in the foundation from becoming big problems. Seal and repair minor issues to protect your business from further damage.
Shut off the main water supply: To minimize the risk of water damage while you’re away from your business, you may consider shutting off the main water supply. This simple action can prevent severe water damage like pipe bursts or leaks.

Restoration, in the simplest terms, is catch-all phrase to describe all the processes & procedures for returning your property to a pre-loss condition. Professional restoration companies follow guidelines established by the IICRC, an independent association that publishes research and best practices to providers and adjusters alike. American Restoration Solutions employs IICRC-certified project managers & technicians to guarantee the quality of your restoration project. We provide all facets of restoration under one roof, from water extraction & dry cleaning to dry outs & rebuilds. One Call, Complete Recovery.

Every loss is different. Small spills of clean water that can easily be mopped up might not be a reason to call, but even a small sewage backup needs professional cleaning & disinfection. Some surfaces can be cleaned & disinfected, while others should be removed because they trap bacteria and can never be thoroughly sanitized. Our IICRC-certified PMs will advise what steps are needed to properly restore your property and keep tenants and employees safe & healthy.

You’ve probably heard the phrase “Water is life” and nothing could be more true. While it keeps us alive, water also fuels microbial growth (aka mold), mildew, bacteria, and other harmful contaminants. Water can also cause structural rot and pose electrocution hazards. Trust American Restoration Solutions to clean up quickly, completely, and correctly.

No! Depending on the size of the loss, it may not make sense to file an insurance claim. Factors like claims history, deductible, coverage & your ability to pay all factor into whether it makes sense to file a claim. We provide competitive pricing and low or no-cost assessments for losses without a claim or denied clams.

Regardless of insurance coverage, American Restoration Solutions is here to help. Not all instances of water damage are covered but the damage still needs to be cleaned up. In order for insurance to cover the damage, the cause of loss usually needs to be considered “sudden & accidental”. Your insurance may or may not cover the repairs for the cause of loss, but they will cover the subsequent damage. Flood damage is typically covered by separate insurance or FEMA. If you have questions about your policy & coverage, we suggest speaking with us, your broker, or a pubic adjuster.

Typically drying begins as soon as any standing water has been extracted, contents have been moved to an unaffected area or into storage & all demolition debris has been removed. The industry standard drying time is 3-5 days. We monitor equipment & take moisture measurements throughout the process until the area is dry & ready for repairs. If hazardous materials such as mold or asbestos appear to be present or local jurisdictions require approvals first, it may add to the amount of time before work can start. Our goal is always to get your life back together as quickly as possible.
